Statement of the Board of the Free Courts Foundation regarding the resignation of Michał Wawrykiewicz from the position of the Board Member

June 11th, 2024

On April 24, 2024, the Board of the Free Courts Foundation accepted the resignation from the position of the Board Member submitted by Michał Wawrykiewicz in connection with his decision to run for elections to the European Parliament as a candidate representing civil society. The relevant amendments were submitted to the National Court Register.

Michał – our friend – achieved a great result in the elections held on June 9, 2024, therefore he will be representing Poland in the European Parliament.

Michał, we are extremely proud of you and congratulate you! Also, please accept congratulations from the entire team of the Foundation! We were bound together by the idea of upholding the rule of law, respect for democracy and civil rights. Our concern for these values led to the establishment of the Free Courts Initiative in 2017, which we have developed together over the years. We are confident that your new path will be successful, and that you will be dedicated to the issues closest to you – human rights and the rule of law. Europe is in good hands.

In view of the concern for the fulfillment of the statutory objectives of the Foundation, including the requirement of independence of its activities from political actions, we inform that as of April 24, 2024, the Foundation implements its statutory tasks under the direction of board members: Sylwia Gregorczyk – Abram and Paulina Kieszkowska.
