Together with VIA IURIS we would like to invite you to our next meeting „Justice under attack – Lessons from Poland”. This time in Bratislava!
The Free Courts Foundation is now running the project called “Protecting Free Courts in Europe”, which aims to raise awareness on the rule of law crisis. As part of this project, we organise seminars in different European cities under the title: “Justice under attack – Lessons from Poland”. The project is supported by NED (National Endowment for Democracy) and is dedicated to lawyers, judges and practitioners as well as students, Human Rights activists, civil society actors and media.
A case study on Poland can be a warning to other countries as well as a source of knowledge for students, lawyers and activists. It can help to respond more quickly and in a coordinated manner to similar challenges to the ones we have witnessed in Poland, such as destruction of the independence of judiciary, assaults on higher courts, media smear campaigns against judges, political instrumentalization of prosecution services.
The event will take place on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 17:00 in Goethe Institute. During the meeting we will be discussing 3000 days of destruction of the independence of judiciary in Poland, ideas on how to restore the Rule of law and legal instruments within EU law for reaction on rule of law crisis in a member states.
See you in Bratislava!
